A brand new year with lots of excitement happening already and after a self-imposed break, I am slowly getting back into the swing of things.
Like most people, I rather try to make resolutions; sometimes I fulfil them, sometimes I do not! However, I think it is important to continually make goals throughout the year, even if it is just to rearrange your studio and small stuff like that. This year some of my goals and aspirations include going on adventures, in particular going on an adventure to New Zealand hopefully in the near future; painting and drawing my way across the South Island!
Another is to read more. Started the year so far with a good one, Dickens ‘“A Tale of Two Cities” and now I am on to “Oliver Twist”.
I am also going to try to doodle more and draw from life more often. I feel sometimes I put up barriers and have really neglected my drawing the past six months whereas I used to go outside and draw all the time – just anything it did not matter. It is the act of sitting down quietly and observing that is important. Art is the kind of thing that I feel, to use a colloquial “if you don’t use it you lose it” or something like that! It is ever evolving – you get better with practice.
Therefore, Happy New Year to everyone who strolls past my little blog and look forward to more of my quirky paintings, and sketches this year!
