Tiny Teasers

Thought I would share a few little teasers for the Alice show I've been working towards. The top image is a detail of a work by Caitlin Millard and the bottom is a detail of a progress shot of my work for the show. At the moment its still sketchy and messy but it is getting there slowly. It's funny because I actually feel like I'm going mad from painting tiny details all day!

We're All Mad Here

It's that time of year again - 'Mad March' as they say and I'm taking part in this amazing group show coming up at Espionage. It's an Alice in Wonderland theme so I was extremely excited to work towards this show! The surreal imagery, rhymes and quirky characters in that story and Through the Looking Glass are especially endearing to me and since playing around in my sketchbook for this exhibition I've gone through several ideas that were far too ambitious for the time frame. Although there is one I will definitely revisit! The work I'm currently working on/finishing is a reinterpretation of the white rabbit or maybe Alice. Stay tuned for sneak peeks closer to the show!

Rabbit Mask

Thought I would share a prop I made for a future painting. It has over a thousand diamante stuck on it! But that being said was a lot of fun to make. It's really heavy to wear and kind of frightens me - I think masks are inherently scary which is probably the reason why I am painting one!
Anyway, I'm really excited about this new work and I can't wait to post it on here :)

Lately

1. Sketching Percy - I love drawing in pen, even the mistakes look nice :)
2. Work in progress for " The Juniper Wolf "
3. My work in the 2nd Anniversary show at Espionage Gallery ( I wish I hadn't cropped out the work above in my shot - it was so cool!)
4. Miniature sketch of Percy in tiny white frame, on the book shelf in my studio
5. He's growing so quickly!

Where did January go? Seriously!
