Follow the White Rabbit: An Alice Inspired Exhibition

I'm thrilled to announce that I will be taking part in this exhibition/ extravaganza next year in January amongst an array of talented people. I am really excited to take part in this innovative event as I have never had my work displayed in this manner! Alice and her adventures in wonderland have always been a pervasive theme in my practice for many years now and it is a story which still manages to entrance and engage with its quirky, unsettling and joyous imaginings.
Below is some details from the event page, don’t forget to save the date!

Sneak peek and progress shots to come soon!

"After the massive success of Spirited, A Studio Ghibli Inspired Exhibition at the Himeji Gardens which saw over 3,000 people in one day, Espionage Gallery once again teams up with Splash Adelaide to present: Follow the White Rabbit, An Alice Inspired Exhibition.

The exhibition, inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, will feature the works of around 40 emerging and established artists from Australia and overseas surrounded by an unsettling carnival atmosphere and perhaps a hookah-smoking caterpillar or two.

The event will also feature croquet courtesy of Croquet SA as well as free art workshops from Tsunami Hee Ja, performances by gypsy jazz band Monsieur Swing, chess from Chess Life, stallholders, cosplay competition and more!

Gold coin donation for entry into the exhibition going to Espionage Gallery as well as gold coin donation for croquet going to Croquet SA. All other activities will be free on the day. Free entry to the exhibition for anyone in costume!

Will you dare to follow the White Rabbit?

Lady Face

From 4 July until 5 August
Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm daily

Exhibition Opening | 6:30 - 8:30pm, Friday 4 July. All welcome.

Lady Face explores the representation of women in contemporary art and culture by showcasing a survey of female portraiture by young female visual artists. Throughout the history of art, paintings of women have largely been commissioned and produced by men for the pleasure of the male gaze. Lady Face counters this tradition by celebrating the insight and skill of female artists in representing the physical, psychological and emotional attributes of their female subjects through the intimacy of portraiture.

I am so excited to be exhibiting amongst this talented group of lady painters, it should be a great exhibition.

Inspiration: Pressed Flowers

I love the way flowers look when they've been pressed. Here's two I picked up whilst on a hike - the purple one came out really well. I find the shapes, colour and texture are really inspiring.

New Polaroid

Recently got a polaroid for my birthday - cannot wait to take this cute little thing on an adventure!
Here's my first test shot using the impossible project film, at the bottom of the photo you can see where I was holding the box to catch the photo and protect it from the light - going to have to work on that.
I think this camera is going to be a welcome addition to my growing collection :)
